Silver Circuit Awards Program

In 2024 the NWSA has expanded the Silver Circuit Award Program to include Open Breed Shows, Ranch Riding Competitions and Endurance Competitions. Members will now nominate the American Saddlebred the will be riding and pick the events they want to participate in all over the Northwest and British Columbia. Results will be scored and points awarded based on the length of the event.

-Program Rules-

  1. The horse owners and riders/drivers/handlers must be current NWSA members. If a horse has multiple owners, at least one owner must be a member.

  2. Points will begin to accrue on the date that NWSA receives a completed membership application, horse nomination and payment

  3. For a show to be considered for Silver Circuit Points (outside of a breed show) a prize list must be submitted to NWSAmembership@gmail.com at least 2 weeks in advance of a horse show to be eligible for points. This is the sole responsibility of the owner or trainer. Every effort will be made to post prize lists on the NWSA website for member benefit

  4. Points will be calculated per calendar year January through December.

  5. Riders, drivers, handlers must have their individual points sheets signed by the show secretary or official for points to count.

  6. Riders, drivers, handlers must submit their completed points sheets to the NWSAmembership@gmail.com no more than 2 weeks after each show.

  7. Riders, drivers or handlers must compete at three separate shows or events in at least 6 classes. Endurance must compete in at least 4 rides in a calendar year.

– Silver Circuit Year End High Point Awards –

  1. NWSA members may accumulate points at all breed, open shows, and events these points will be tabulated by the member and submitted to the NWSAmembership@gmail.com chairperson no more than two weeks after each show.

  2. Members are responsible for submitting their classes and placings to NWSAmembership@gmail.com for all shows and event outside of our regular breed shows. Result must be submitted no later than 1 week after the show or event.

  3. All scores / placings for exhibiting members in NWSA approved shows and events will be kept on file by Silver Circuit Secretary

  4. Show results from official show report sheets will determine all standings for Silver Circuit awards.

  5. Restricted classes will count for points and will be assigned to the most appropriate category. Examples include: Five Gaited Novice horse will count in the Open Five Gaited category; Three Gaited State Restricted will count in the Open Three-Gaited Show, Pleasure Novice Rider will count in the Adult category, and so on.

  6. Classes that eliminate a horse/rider from competing further after winning a blue ribbon, or classes that require additional membership affiliations, will not count, such as Saddle and Bridle’s Shatner Western Pleasure, UPHA Challenge Cup, USEF Medal classes, 4-H and others.

  7. NWSA will not be liable for failure of a member to provide results to NWSAmembership@gmail.com. If there is a discrepancy of any kind, the responsibility of submitting burden of proof rests entirely with the owner and/or exhibitor.

To be eligible for a Champion or Reserve Champion Award in any division, a horse (or equitation rider) must have competed IN THAT DIVISION at THREE separate Silver Circuit approved horse shows during the season.

  • 5 Gaited – Open, Amateur, Jr Exhibitor, Jr Horse

  • 3 Gaited – Open, Amateur, Jr Exhibitor, Jr Horse

  • Fine Harness – Open, Amateur, Jr Exhibitor, Jr Horse

  • Park Horse – Open, Amateur

  • Park Pleasure – Open, Amateur, Jr Horse

  • 3 and 5 Gaited Pleasure – Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

  • Pleasure Driving

  • Country Pleasure – 3 & 5 Gaited, Hunter, Western for both Amateur & Jr Exhibitor

  • Country Pleasure Driving

  • Road Horse and Pony to bike

New Divisions

  • -Open English - Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

  • -Open Western - Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

  • - Open equitation/ horsemanship

  • - Open driving - Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

  • Open in hand (showmanship, halter, etc.)

  • - Ranch (any class in a ranch division including breed and open classes) - Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

  • - Endurance - Amateur, Jr Exhibitor

 Academy

  • -Rider/horse owner/ and trainer must be a NWSA member.

  • - We will count all placings for any open class in an open show the rider shows in as an academy rider on ANY TYPE OF HORSE

 – NWSA High Point Award –

  1. Horse showing is a team sport where the team members are a horse and rider. The purpose of the High Point award is to recognize the team(s) within a rider’s age group (under or over eighteen) that has accumulated the most points over the show season.

  2. Points will be awarded on the same basis as Silver Circuit points.

  3. The High Point award will go to the team(s) with the most points in at the end of the Silver Circuit season. Separate awards will be made to riders over and under eighteen.

  4. A team may only receive the High Point award one time.

- Versatility High Point Award -

The Versatility Award will be awarded to the horse that has earned the most points in three distinct divisions during the show season. If no horse meets these qualifications in a particular season, the Versatility Award will not be given.

“Versatility divisions” will be defined as follows:

Saddle Seat, Hunt Seat, Western, Driving, In Hand (Horsemanship), Ranch, Endurance and Halter

Equitation and Academy classes, which are judged on the abilities of the rider, will not count toward the Versatility award.

  • At least two of the three divisional requirements must be met by exhibiting in classes for which Silver Circuit year-end awards are given.

 -General Rules-

  • Shows will not need to pay a fee. NWSA will do their best to update the website calendar

  • Rider and Owner must be NWSA members for points to be counted

  • Points will begin to accrue on the date that NWSA receives a completed membership application, horse nomination and payment.

  • An official lease of a horse shall be construed as bona fide ownership, and a copy of such a lease must be on file with the Silver Circuit Secretary stating the lease period.  Any Silver Circuit award won by a horse is made to the owner/lessor as shown on NWSA files at the time the horse earns his last point in competition.

  • Ownership of a horse may be transferred during the year without loss of Silver Circuit points, provided that the new owner is a member or becomes a member of NWSA within ten days of acquisition and notification is given to the Silver Circuit Secretary prior to horse show participation.

  • Rider and/or owner must nominate their horse for the points to count. Cost to nominate an ASB is $10

  • Members are responsible for submitting their classes and placings to NWSAmembership@gmail.com for all shows and event outside of our regular breed shows. 

  •  We count points on a calendar year (Jan-Dec)

Versatility High Point Award

The Versatility Award will be awarded to the horse that has earned the most points in three distinct divisions during the course of the show season. If no horse meets these qualifications in a particular season, the Versatility Award will not be given.

“Versatility divisions” will be defined as follows:
